Our guides and instructors are all experienced members of AAPGAI - the Association of Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors. We are ideally located to show you the fantastic fishing that the Westcountry offers and teach you the skills you need to make the most of your fishing.

I started fishing at a very young age thanks to a Dad that loved to fish himself and would never let a demanding 4 year old son stop him from indulging in his beloved sport. So it all started with catching eels from the local river on garden worms fished with a hazel stick. Thanks Dad! I remember seeing an elder boy catching trout and salmon parr on a fly and needing to try it myself and so the Adventure began. That was over 25 years ago and I have never stopped learning, developing my skills and perhaps most importantly, enjoying my fly fishing. I became a professional instructor and fishing guide in 2009 and having achieved the AAPGAI (Association of Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors) qualification I have demonstrated an ability to instruct fly fishing and fly casting to a high standard.
I love fly fishing anywhere for any fish. I have fished competitively for many years including representing my country at an international youth level. These days I prefer to target wild trout on Westcountry streams, rivers and lakes and also chasing bass and mullet on the North Devon coast.
Adventure Fly Fishing UK Associated Instructor – Mark Bailey
Mark is a full time AAPGAI qualified instructor and Pro Guide for Rio. He has a wealth of fly fishing knowledge on still and running water. Mark is a demon caster with the single handed rod but has a relaxed and fun teaching style. When not teaching or guiding Mark is fishing, he is a specialist fly fisher for pike, but is equally at home chasing wild brown trout on a Dartmoor stream. In addition Mark is an awesome fly tyer.
Both instructors are Police Checked, fully insured and first aid qualified
